Santa Faz - Alicante

Santa Faz - Pilgrimage its a event in Alicante which takes place every year on the second Thursday after Easter. As many people as around 200 people- no matter if old or young are expected to take a part in this second largest pilgrimage in Spain, to the Montasterio- Santa Faz.

A hudge number of people are walking around 8 km road from center of Alicante to Monasterio. At the monastery lies the veil with which Veronica dabbed at the bleeding face of Christ as he carried his cross to Calvary.

Being part of this event I can truly say that its a great experience. Elder people start from Alicante already in early morning and younger usually follow them around afternoon. Walking to the Santa Faz is long becasue its like 8 km but its full of attractions.
However for the young people Santa Faz is not the latest destinacion .... after they all go to the beach and doing there one big botellon. In this day its allowed to drink alcohol on the beach. Some people bring some musical equipment and ......i think i dont need to write more details .... just like in a tipical Spain...every occasion is a good oportunity to make a FIESTA!!! hahaha.....

Santa Faz Church, colorfull houses near by and beach full of young people enjoing freedom of the Santa Faz benefits....
